Q. Can I buy a Machine Gun, Suppressor, or AOW?

A. Yes, if you must live in a state where ownership is allowed. Then simply complete the required BATFE form 4’s, a Certification of Compliance form and two finger print cards. Mail all forms along with your check for the appropriate transfer fee in and approximately 1-3 months later your transfer paperwork will be returned if approved.

 

Q. What are the requirements for ownership?

      A. You must be a citizen of the United States and be at least 21 years of age. Never been convicted of a Felony or Domestic Violence, been dishonorably discharged from the military and never been adjudicated mentally defective.  

 

Q. Do I have to pay this tax annually?  
A. No, this is a one time tax. It will never have to be paid again unless you sell the weapon & transfer it to another individual.

 

Q. What do I have to do if I wish to sell my item?
A.
Basically if you are selling it to an individual in your state of residence, the buyer will have to complete the same forms as you did. If you are selling it to a dealer, he or she will most likely complete all the required paperwork.

 

 

Q. Why are machine guns so expensive?

      A. The National Firearms Act of 1934 placed a one time $200.00 tax on all privately owned machine guns and suppressors. In 1968 the importation of machine guns was outlawed for civilian use by the Gun Control Act.  In 1986 the McClure-Volkmer Act banned the manufacture of machine guns for private ownership. This means all legal machine guns were registered before the ban in 1986 and that there is a limited supply.

 

Q. What is a Class III item?
A. Class III item refers to anything regulated by the NFA Act of 1934. These items are registered to a specific person. They include: short barrel rifles and shotguns, any other weapons, suppressors, destructive devices, and machine guns.
